Limousine Hire Safety News
December 7th, 2008In addition to the recent blog article on the legality of limo hire on our new Seaton Sluice Limos and Newcastle Limos blog, the BBC has confirmed the Government’s focus on greater licensing controls on Limousine operators, stating that “[they are] currently tightening controls on stretch limousines to make sure they meet safety and licensing standards.”
The piece highlights how a number of limousine operators are operating illegally with incorrect or even no licenses especially those offering journies for over 8 passengers.
“While lots [of limousine operators] are properly licensed, many are illegal and have drivers not vetted by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB).”
Interestingly the BBC also raised the concern around how limousine hire drivers are chosen and the need for chauffeurs to have undergone CRB checks. All the drivers we have at Seaton Sluice Limos have had CRB checks ensuring that they are suitable for all jobs, including jobs with children and school proms.
This focus on safety is important to us here at Seaton Sluice Limos & Newcastle Limos and something that we feel will be high on the Government’s limousine hire agenda in future months.
